Chris Rawlins, the West Coast Regional Manager of MTM, called me shortly after the event and told me I wasn’t going to believe the pictures he took on the track in Las Vegas and told me to stand by my computer and wait for the upload. He was right. When I received the footage in New York, he had my full attention as I scrolled through the pictures of the drifting Team Honda Research 510 horsepower Honda Element.

While baking in the heat at BFGoodrich’s KDW Shotgun Challenge in Las Vegas, NV watching the participants discover the thrills of road racing and the menacing abilities of BFGoodrich’s g-Force T/A KDW tires, I was approached by one of the event’s staff and asked if I would like to ride in one of the cars heading out for a warm-up run.  I jumped at the chance and with no hesitation I ran to my car to grab my helmet.  The car I was being placed in was one I thought was there for display purposes only, the WORKS 2008 EVO X TR-444.  I was about to go on a 2-lap thrill ride that would leave many with blistered hands and sweaty palms.

JDM emphasizes the true beauty of a car. It may simplify as well as electrify the look of one’s vehicle, leaving no space for gaudy, un-needed complications in imagery. This is why JDM has gotten popular over the days, not to mention the reason why JDM parts can be rare. This look was what Selwyn Margono set fourth to achieve with his 2003 Toyota Celica 1ZZ-FE. Purchased in September 3rd 2005, he immediately started to modify the look of his Celica keeping the JDM look of elaborate simplicity and attention to detail in mind.

Jason Hughes of Lynbrook, NY originally purchased his ’04 350z coupe with full intentions of having a reliable daily driver. Like most, he would enjoy the factory drive his 350z provided for awhile. But within a few months, he felt compelled build a customized show car. The reason Jason decided on building this ride was simple, he had always loved the lines of this 350z and once changed around, would highlight this love for his car to a whole new level. Jason became involved in the car show scene through friends and forums such as tsz33.com.
